　　  Officially opened in 1979, the Chinese Consulate General in Houston is the first Consulate General China established in the United States of America. Our consular district covers eight American Southern states, namely Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and an unincorporated territory-the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The Consulate General is committed to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and the southern United States in all fields, to deepen the understanding and friendship between Chinese and American peoples, to protect the rights and benefits of Chinese citizens, and to provide consular services to overseas Chinese in our consular districts and all visitors to China.
